Mediaserver

A media server is a comprehensive term that refers to a complex system designed for transmitting audiovisual outputs to remote devices. This term can denote various forms of software used for media transmission, as well as the hardware itself that serves as the home hosting for the aforementioned files—the foundation being a device (computer) and a network connection.

What Can Be Referred to as a Media Server? This principle underlies all streaming services, such as Spotify, Netflix, and HBO GO, among others. Their media server is essentially a large server room containing all the films and music, along with the software that allows you to view those files. In our work, a media server can be supplemented with cameras that transmit live broadcasts to present audiences as well as remote viewers, and microphones that ensure sound transmission.
