Motel Kamenec | IBIZA 26′ Dance Party

An open-air stage built using LED technology

For the biggest dance party of the season at the Motel Kamenec site, we set up an open-air stage combining LED technology, striking lighting design and spatial elements suspended above the audience. The party featured performances by both international and Slovak DJs, including Crusy, Nifra, DJ EKG and Marek Mazag.

A space that worked from various angles and distances

The brief was to create a set that would not merely function when viewed from the stage, but would become an integral part of the entire festival site. From the outset, we therefore approached the stage design as a single interconnected system, where individual elements interacted across the entire site. The dominant feature of the main stage was a circular LED screen, which became the natural centre of visual communication. Its character was further emphasised by dynamic lighting elements on both sides of the stage, creating a striking visual framework visible from a great distance. An LED cube positioned in the central section above the audience added another dimension. Combined with the extensive lighting system arranged around it, it created a second visual focal point for the entire space and brought the action from the stage directly amongst the audience. The result was a 360° experience in which the audience were not merely observers of the programme, but an integral part of it.

Lighting design as part of the experience

An important part of the concept was the use of lighting. The new ADJ Jolt Panel FXIP strobe lights, together with over a hundred other lighting fixtures, helped to create a scene that constantly changed throughout the evening and responded to the energy of the programme. The lighting design was not, however, intended solely for the performers on stage. Its purpose was to engage with the entire venue and enhance the intensity of the experience amongst the audience.

A technical solution that allows the event itself to take centre stage

The aluminium support structure also played a significant role. As well as securely holding the individual technical components in place, it became a natural part of the set design and helped to define the character of the entire stage. However, the aim was not to draw attention to the technology itself, but to create an environment in which both the programme and the overall atmosphere of the event could shine through without any distractions.

Peace of mind and security for the organiser

Part and parcel of any open-air event is being prepared for situations beyond one’s control. During Ibiza 26′, the summer heat gave way to heavy rain showers, yet the event went ahead without any disruptions. Thanks to thorough preparation and coordination of all arrangements, the organiser was able to focus on the programme and the visitors, safe in the knowledge that the event remained under control.
